Main Research Areas
Causes and mechanisms of neurological diseases
Our research focus is on neurological diseases that already occur in childhood and adolescence. Many of these diseases are genetically caused, meaning that a mutation in a particular gene leads to the disease or one or more mutations in one or more DNA segments increase the likelihood of disease onset.
In our basic science projects, we strive to elucidate the causes and mechanisms of disease manifestation and development, thus providing the basis for new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. In clinical research projects, new therapeutic approaches and treatment protocols are developed, improved and tested for their safety profiles.
All projects are carried out with cooperation partners on the Göttingen campus as well as in the context of national and international collaborations.
